A state-of-the-art technical training institute was initially established by PTA on an area of 4.5 Acres of Land in collaboration with the Government under the name of National Institute of Leather Technology (NILT) at Korangi, Karachi with the following objectives;

- To train individuals in leather and leather products technologies, so as to cater to the human resource requirements of leather industry.

- To improve design, productivity, cost effectiveness and quality awareness of leather industry.

- To conduct research and experimentation on leather processing, leather garments and made-ups.

- To work as center for dissemination of information on modern practices of leather processing and manufacturing.

NILT started operation in February 1998 successfully and is offering different Diploma and Certificate Courses in Leather Technology to the students under the curriculum in the institute is entirely as that of British School of Leather Technology, United Kingdom. Most of the students after completing their courses successfully are working in the several factories of PTA members. NILT has full fledged mini tannery, Physical, Chemical and Analytical Laboratories, Information Technology Centre, a good Library, Research & Design Laboratories with other essential facilities aimed at upgrading the leather sector industry particularly through professional skill development of the workforce in the manufacturing units.
