The Chairman, Pakistan Tanners’ Association, Mr. Khurshid Alam once again strongly condemned in a press statement issued today to the further increased prices of Petroleum Products in Pakistan as the same is directly affecting to the economy of the country, which is already in severe clutches of declining trend in general and to the Leather Industry of Pakistan in particular.

Mr. Khurshid Alam, Chairman, Pakistan Tanners Association also said in a press statement that in repercussion of increased fuel prices in Pakistan, the production cost of Leather Industry would certainly reach to the uncompetitive edge in the international market. Besides, as experienced in the recent Int’l Leather Exhibitions held in Hongkong & Italy organized by PTA for its members’ participation, the prices of Finished Leather of all sorts/Leather Garments/Products offered by PTA’s members are already on higher side rather than the prices of our competitors of neighbor countries such as China, India & Bangladesh and taking benefits of prices upto 100% in making business conclusion with the foreign buyers/customers at International market.

The Chairman, PTA, Mr. Khurshid Alam also shared that the manufacturers-cum-exporters of PTA’s members are completely now unable to offer the better/competitive prices of finished leather/leather garments/products/made-ups in the wake of high prices of Fuel, interruption of Electricity, Gas, unavailability of basic Raw Materials as well as Law & order situation in Pakistan and loosing all the confirmed export orders already committed by PTA’s members with their valued foreign buyers/customers, which is bringing adverse affect to the clientele.

Mr. Khurshid Alam, Chairman, PTA once again STRONGLY appeals to the Honourable President of Pakistan & Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Chief Minister Punjab to look into the significant nature of problems of Leather Industry of Pakistan particularly for the reduction of prices of Petroleum Products in Pakistan for the supreme interest to cater to the basic needs of the Industry with the motive to provide level playing field to the Leather Industry to continue play their pivotal role in strengthening the country’s economy, which is already under heavy turmoil.
